"Would I
be entitled to use VHC?"
If
you live in the area we will help you if we can. It doesn't matter
how old you are or whether or not you are disabled... if you need
a hand you should ask us.
***
"I'm perfectly
fit but I don't have a car and there's no suitable bus service"
That's
just what we're here for. We will always do what we can to help
with any reasonable request.
***
"Sometimes
it would be nice just to have someone to talk to."
Many
of our volunteers welcome the chance to stop and chat. Give us
a call and we'll try to introduce you to someone suitable.
***
"Could you
help with household chores?"
Most
definitely! Volunteers regularly help out with shopping, correspondence
and odd jobs but we are not able to undertake heavy cleaning tasks.
***
"My garden
is getting neglected. Any chance you could help?"
We
don't do heavy gardening but we can usually help with tidying,
potting, clearing up and weeding.
***
"I don't
live in Southwold or Reydon. Can you still help?"
We
cover a quite wide area. We have volunteers in Southwold, Reydon,
Walberswick, Wangford, Wrentham, Frostenden, Uggeshall so it's
always worth asking.
***
"I'm no longer
able to give my dog the exercise he needs."
Dog
walking is something we often get asked to do.Many of our volunteers
are dog-lovers and welcome the chance to take them out for a run.
***
"Will I have
to pay anything?"
Only
if you wish to use the car service. Users of that service make
a contribution at a rate set down by the Suffolk Highways Department.
There is no charge for the non-driving services. Of course, we
always welcome contributions but they are not expected.
***
"Can you
offer any forms of specialist help"
Our
ability to help depends on the availability of suitable volunteers.
We would like to hear what your specialist needs are and we'll
do our best to help.
***
"I am a carer
myself. Can you offer me any sort of respite service?"
We
often provide volunteers to 'sit in' for carers while they take
a break.
***
"What if
you can't meet my particular needs?"
If
we are not able to provide a suitable service we can usually point
you in the direction of an agency or charity who can.
